Yeehaw! Time to lace up those cowboy boots and ready the saddle because we’re about to get on the horse, pairing classic country music and a half rack of beer (12 cans!). From a boot-scootin’ boogie to the king of the road, the musical journey begins in the 1940s with Ernest Tubb and runs full spectrum to newer stars including Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson. There’s certainly no country rap though!
Garth Brooks and Stone’s Enjoy By 7/4 IPA
This IPA can is draped in red, white, and blue. What can be more patriotic than country music? Crank up some Garth and let the fireworks dazzle on this Independence Day. This IPA series makes sure the beer is consumed while fresh giving important dates including July 4th, Halloween, or New Year’s Day.
Kenny Rogers and Barrel House Z’s Sunny and 79 Degrees, a ginned pilsner
Tipping the old Stetson to the late Kenny Rogers, we’re pouring out a summery beer with this pilsner aged in gin barrels. This beer invokes the tropical Kenny, well-tanned and singing “Islands in the Stream” with Dolly.
George Strait and Miller High Life
If George is “drinkin’ champagne and feelin’ no pain” then for the barroom, he better be enjoying a High Life, the “champagne of beers”!
Merle Haggard and the Alchemist’s Heady Topper
With all of these hops, I don’t think Merle’s gonna approve of Heady Topper. He’ll probably associate it with those “like the hippies out in San Fransisco do”. Although he’s got plenty of drinking songs including “Misery and Gin,” “Back to the Barrooms Again,” and, my personal favorite, “I Think I’ll Just Sit Here and Drink.”
Roger Miller and Two Roads’ Honeyspot Road IPA
For the “King of the Road” himself, what better brand than Two Roads! On top of that, this IPA is named after Honeyspot Road, a major thoroughfare in Stratford, where Two Roads is located. Don’t forget his “Chug-a-lug”; for those about to drink we salute you!
Alan Jackson and Radiant Pig’s Juicy Fruit
Jackson may not need the “booze to get a buzz on” but one way to cure a “tropical depression” may just be this sour beer bursting with fruity flavor. Fun note- on a recent trip to Portland, Maine, the Lyft driver appreciated these golden pipes, as well as a friend’s, as we sang along with “Gone Country”!
Johnny Cash and Tree House’s Eureka
He’s been everywhere but has he been to Tree House?
Ernest Tubb and Dirty Water’s Blueberry Lemon hard seltzer
It’s not quite bath “Tubb” gin, but Dirty Water Distillery’s blueberry lemon hard seltzer is my favorite of their flavors.
Lefty Frizzell and Founders KBS espresso stout
From Frizzell’s “Saginaw, Michigan” to Founders which hails from Grand Rapids, Michigan. At 12%, this stout’s a real knockout!
George Jones and Beer’d’s Frank & Scary Double IPA
It may not be “White Lightning” but this Halloween-themed version of the popular Frank & Berry Double IPA packs a punch at 9.1%. During the last spooky season, I kept on reaching for this beer.
Mike Ness and Bissell Brothers’ The Substance
For his albums of covers, Social Distortion frontman, Mike Ness goes Under the Covers with faithful renditions of classic country songs. Could he be under the influence of this “Substance”?
Hank Williams and Grey Sail’s Captain’s Daughter
With a spotlight on class country, of course, Hank Williams has to be featured. For a king of country music, an imperial IPA such as Captain’s Daughter does the trick.
Bring on this half rack and crank up the country tunes with this Backyard Road Trips more than six-pack series! For others in this series, check out, Kenny Rogers, the Carpenters, and Smooth Jazz and Smooth IPAs.
