We’ve scoured the South Shore for the best bar pizza and take-out spots. This time we’re heading back to Plymouth to investigate the best salads with chicken in town. (Note this is different from “chicken salad.”) When looking for something that can be somewhat classified as healthy (see, somewhat), a salad with chicken is always a great option. Here are five of the best in America’s Hometown.
Gyro Co.
Each of my visits to the Greek restaurant Gyro Co at Colony Place in Plymouth has yielded tasty results! I’m partial to their Athenian gyro. This comes with pork, fries, tzatziki sauce, and veggies inside a rolled pita. For a salad, I enjoy their Greek Salata and add chicken. It’s quite large, full of fresh vegetables, olives, and tender chunks of chicken.
Chipotle
I can’t believe I’m including a chain restaurant, but to me, Chipotle is definitely a head above the rest of the chains. Instead of a burrito, at Chipotle I order the salad with chicken. They season the chicken perfectly and dump it on top of a bed of greens along with beans, rice, salsa, and cheese. Each and every bite is delicious!
Black Raspberry Pub
Between bar pizza, fried clams, and take-out, Black Raspberry Pub often makes the “best of” lists on Backyard Road Trips. They have an excellent Cobb salad. It’s a nice change from the typical Greek salads. With strips of chicken, hard-boiled egg, avocado, and bacon, this Cobb salad is a meal in itself and is really excellent.
Stracco’s
Stracco’s is known for its dynamite subs and sandwiches. I always enjoy their Pilgrim, a Thanksgiving dinner between two slices of bread. A sharable accompaniment to a sub is a salad. Adding chicken to a bed of fresh vegetables is a winner at Stracco’s.
Roll Street Tavern
At Roll Street Tavern everything is in a roll of some kind. Whether an egg roll or lettuce wrap, expect the unexpected rolled up! Instead of a typical salad, try a chicken lettuce wrap! It’s all that’s great about a salad with chicken except stuffed into a smallish bite.
