Munchies and Milkshakes

One of the newest eateries on the block in Plymouth is Munchies and Milkshakes. Not quite an ice cream shop, not quite a restaurant, Munchies and Milkshakes is a place that the kids will love, and adults will not be able to resist. And these are not simple milkshakes. These are gigantic works of art that include the whole kitchen sink.

Milkshakes

Some of their popular Monstah Milkshakes are “Cocoa Beach,” featuring tons of chocolate and Cocoa Pebbles, “Candy Shop,” with a large assortment of candy, and “What’s Shak’n Bacon?” which is the most unusual milkshake. This is made with vanilla ice cream, chocolate-covered bacon, crumbled bacon, full bacon strips, and a rim covered with bacon and chocolate.

During my visit, we ordered a regular chocolate and a vanilla milkshake, not a Monstah one. Even the regular is huge, 24 ounces! And it was absolutely delicious.

Munchies

The “munchies” in the name refer to wings, sandwiches, sundaes, and waffles, all on the menu. My choice was the Hot Fudge Sundae waffle, with all of the fixings of a hot fudge sundae served atop a Belgian waffle. Others in my group tried the Strawberry Banana waffle which they also raved about.

Not only are the portions huge at Munchies and Milkshakes, but the milkshakes and munchies are also something special. The Plymouth location is open all year long and is right downtown. For a restaurant that opened during the pandemic, Munchies and Milkshakes is doing very well. On most days, expect a long line that goes out the door. The Hull location is right near Nantasket Beach. It is open seasonally. Grab a milkshake and sit on the beach or on the promenade looking out onto Nantasket.

According to the owner, Denise Leuken, “The Monstah Milkshakes are the most popular menu item. ‘The Cookies N Cream’ and ‘What’s Up Buttercup?’ are big sellers.” On the munchies side of things, their sandwiches are also crowd-pleasing. “‘The NYC,’ ‘Tony V,’ and ‘Cheesy Pig’ are our most popular sandwiches,” she noted. For a sandwich, I tried the Half Italian panini which was excellent.

Another waffle creation, the strawberry banana.

When you go

Visit Munchies and Milkshakes at 18 Court Street. “It means a lot to be a part of the Plymouth community. We are proud to be a part of the busy restaurant scene downtown!” says Leuken.
