The Artisan Pig is Plymouth’s newest dining destination. Located at 66 Court Street, this pizza, sausage, and craft beer restaurant is a welcome addition.
Owners and couple Andrew and Samantha started selling their sausage under the Artisan Pig moniker at farmers’ markets in Maine. To open a restaurant, they decided on returning to Samantha’s hometown of Plymouth.
Only open a few months, the Artisan Pig is already receiving rave reviews. The interior is tastefully designed. It is a bright spot with bistro flare that would not feel out of place in a larger city. In addition to dining in, the restaurant is also popular for taking out.
Pizza & Sausage at the Artisan Pig
During my recent visit, I ordered two pizzas and a sausage sandwich. With the fact that the restaurant is known for its sausage, I had to make that a focal point of the meal. The two pizzas were a sausage pizza and a Margherita. Both were delicious. Although I am a big fan of South Shore bar pizza, these large slices are classic pizza pie.
The sweet Italian sausage with the green veggies was a nice pairing. The Margherita was one of the best of this style that I have had. With large chunks of tomato and mozzarella, it really hit the spot. Trying the hot Italian sausage, I was able to fully enjoy their specialty, the sausage. The sausage has heat but certainly not unbearably so. The homemade sausage is really top-notch.
I’ll be back soon to pig out
I am excited to try the Artisan Pig again soon. The charcuterie boards, which include their house-made sausages, are popular. I definitely want to try this pronto. I’d also like to try the sweet Italian sausage sandwich to compare it with the hot sausage.
The Artisan Pig is a welcome addition to the already vibrant Plymouth dining scene. It fits in well as a hip pizza place which was lacking downtown. It walks that fine line between a place to pick up a few pies for the family but also, with a well-rounded craft beer selection and tastefully designed interior, doubles as a date night destination. Make sure to visit it next time you’re in Plymouth!
