Exhibit “A” Brewing Company: A Road Trip To-Go
I had every intention to describe in detail the actual brewery space of Exhibit “A” Brewing Company, the tanks, the ceiling, the brewing process.
With every expectation comes a reality. By the time I arrived at Exhibit “A” Brewing in Framingham, Massachusetts, my son was fast asleep in the backseat. I had two options, two that any parents in the crowd will be nodding in recognition of. Do I wake him up and possibly have to fend off an unrested hobgoblin for the better part of the afternoon, or do I keep him asleep in the car with my wife as I quickly run in to buy some beer and enjoy a peaceful day?
I opted for the latter in terms of both self-preservation and to not ruin the rest of the afternoon.
My backyard road trip turned into a stay-at-home trip.
After being introduced to their product three years ago by Tatum at the Craft Beer Cellar in Plymouth, any time I find their beer I make sure to buy a few cans. Additionally, if I’m ever in the fair (newly ordained) city of Framingham, I make it a point to head to the brewery.
The Delicious IPAs of Exhibit “A” Brewing
Exhibit “A” simply makes good beer. Three of my favorites include their Hair Raiser Double IPA, the Cat’s Meow IPA, and the Briefcase Porter. I tend to err on the side of the IPA, and their Cat’s Meow and Hair Raiser do not disappoint!
Although I’m often an IPA guy, I have to say the Briefcase may be the best porter I’ve ever had.
The first time I tried the Hair Raiser and Cat’s Meow was just before the ubiquitousness of every IPA being objectified by “New England”, “hazy” and/or “juicy” and I was quite frankly blown away. My preference between the two beers switches with my mood.
Both beers are smooth, and this is especially telling for the Hair Raiser Double since I tend to shy away from too many higher ABV or imperial style beers. I often find them too boozy tasting. It may be old age catching up with me, but Double IPAs also tend to lead to an earlier bedtime.
A taste for every palate at Exhibit “A” Brewing Company
Exhibit “A” Brewing Company concocts a wide variety of creations, from sours to porters. One of my new favorite names for a beer (and can art) has to be their “We’re Going To Need You to Come in on Saturday” Scotch Ale. As almost everyone in my age range seems to know, the reference is from this classic Office Space clip. (And the can features the likeness of Lumbergh!)
Before you go
If you find Exhibit “A” in your local package store, make sure to give them a try or even better, stop by the brewery at 81 Morton Street in Framingham. It’s close to the Natick border off of Route 135. If it seems like the directions are leading to nowhere, they are correct, and isn’t that the fun of brewery hunting anyway?
Exhibit “A” cans have graced the annual Lamothe Beer Can Tree the last two Christmas seasons, look for Hair Raiser in last year’s. (With the bunny can art, it’s a great Easter decoration too!)
