It’s time to dig in for some trail mix. As one of the most creative entries in the six-pack series, we’re pairing more than just beer and music here. Each element of trail mix is represented by a band, which is then paired with a beer and taken along for a hike. Get your boots and let’s hit the trail, mix.
Raisins, the California Raisins, Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA in Mohegan Park.

Starting with our favorite anthropomorphic raisins representing the sweet raisins found in trail mix, “we heard it through the grapevine” that Mohegan Park in Norwich, Connecticut, is a great place for a hike. Afterwards, we washed it all down with a favorite California brewery, Sierra Nevada! Enjoy the Torpedo IPA for a piney treat.
“Trail” Mix, Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Trail of Tears” album, Long Trail Ale at the Yantic Falls

We’re continuing to hike in Norwich. This time at the impressive Yantic Falls. To hit the “trail” in the trail mix, we brought along a classic Long Trail Ale while letting our mullets flow in the wind, listening to Billy Ray’s 1996 album “Trail of Tears.”
M&M’s, Eminem, Ommegang Gnommegang Blonde Ale at Russell Millpond Conservation Area

The sweetest bits of the trail mix, M&M’s, bring us the most controversial musical artist, Eminem. To cool things down a bit, instead of sticking with the chocolate of the M&M’s, our beer is chosen by the distinct blonde locks of his early career. Ommegang’s Gnommegang is a Blonde Ale that counterbalances the lyrics of Eminem while exploring the Russell Millpond Conservation Area in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Trail “Mix,” Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers, Harpoon Winter Mix at Black Cat Preserve

We’re going to jump, jive, and wail to Jive Bunny and the Mixmasters through Plymouth’s Black Cat Preserve while picking our favorite beers from Harpoon’s Winter Mix pack. If variety is the spice of life, then these “mixes” will do us well.
Cranberries and Craisins, The Cranberries, Jack’s Abby Cranberry Chaos at Lowthorpe Meadow

Certain special trail mixes include dried cranberries, or craisins. This was an easy pairing–the Cranberries! If everybody else is walking at Lowthorpe Meadow in Norwich, CT, then why can’t we? There’s “no need to argue” that Jack’s Abby’s cranberry beer pairs best with all of these cranberries.
Peanuts, Charlie Brown Peanuts Portraits, Berkshire Brewing Company Snow Day Stout, peanut butter and white chocolate stout at Manomet Hill Trail

The crunch of the trail mix comes from the peanuts. Let’s dance like it’s Charlie Brown’s Christmas, since we’ll be blasting the Peanuts album all the way up Manomet Hill in Plymouth. For the peanut-buttery goodness, we’re heading out on this snowy day with Berkshire Brewing’s Snow Day stout–a blend of white chocolate and peanut butter.
Six hikes, six beers, six albums, six trail mix ingredients and parts. Now that’s trail mix and a six-pack!
*No actual beers were drunk on these trails!
