Coffee clearly gets us going here at Backyard Road Trips. We’re rounding up some of our favorite coffee shops and roasters. The trick is, that none of these are local to New England (we’ll save that for a later post). We’re checking out some of our favorite coffee shops in Seattle. It’s a bit further afield from the usual backyard road trip, but if you find yourself in the Emerald City, you know you’re in for an excellent cup of coffee.
As Seattle is the undisputed coffee shop king, the following is a list of favorites our favorites in the city.
Anchorhead Coffee
Blueberry caramel latte? Yes, I tried it and it is amazing. It is the one coffee drink that I absolutely craved during my visit to Seattle, as in I got it three times during a little over a week-long trip (twice iced, once hot). The blueberry and the caramel merge together into this creamy latte which is simply divine. There are four locations in the Seattle area, but I kept coming back to the Capitol Hill outpost.
Seattle Coffee Works
With a location right near uber-touristy Pike Place Market and a name that sounds generic, I wasn’t expecting much. Instead, what I received was my favorite non-flavored latte in the city. Just a stone’s throw away from Pike Place, head here for a delicious coffee drink that sure beats the lines at the OG Starbucks just a few steps away.
Top Pot Doughnuts and Coffee
A coffee and doughnut shop with many locations throughout the area, the coffee is so good and so are the doughnuts. Our chains on the East Coast (ahem Dunkin’) can’t hold a candle to a chain spot in the northwest. I chose the Western Avenue location which connects downtown to the ferry terminal.
Victrola Coffee
Another fantastic coffee stop, Victrola Coffee also has four outposts. I chose the Capitol Hill location as my destination. Its classy but inviting interior is friendly enough that my kids were happy to nosh on a pastry as I sat sipping my latte.
When traveling, not only do I like to investigate breweries but coffee shops and roasters too! Here are my favorite coffee shops in Seattle. What are yours?
