The Yellow Deli in Plymouth serves excellent soups and sandwiches in an ornately rustic space downtown. Step inside as the acoustic music and fanciful wood and stone work transports you to a different time period. Relax a while sipping a specialty drink and prepare for a tasty meal.
Blue Blinds to Yellow Deli
The precursor to the Yellow Deli was Blue Blinds Bakery which served soups, sandwiches, and breakfast. The stately home had murals on the wall and the same music playing overhead. In late 2021, the Yellow Deli and the updated Common Sense Market next door opened. The former Blue Blinds space on North Street is now the Yellow Deli To-Go.
What I Eat
My go-to for sandwiches at the Yellow Deli is the Deli Rose. It’s an excellent, albeit messy sandwich with roast beef, corned beef, and two kinds of cheese. It’s best when warm and has so much flavor in every bite. Other menu staples include a Rueben, the veggie-based Yellow Submarine, and the Cranberry Gobbler.
Aside from the sandwiches, make sure to try a soup. The chili is hearty and thick and one of my faves is the salmon chowder. It is served with freshly baked bread that is perfect for dipping. The soup of the day varies but it’s always superb. Breakfast is also served. Although it’s a lot of food, I often add a waffle to my meal as it’s crispy and fluffy at the same time.
To Go
Soup and bread is an easy, quick take-out meal. Just know that the Yellow Deli is closed on Saturdays but is open 24 hours five days a week from Sundays through Friday afternoons. They reopen on Sunday at noon.
