If summer means barbecue, then summer should also mean BBQ. This month, it’s an August trip for BBQ in the Plymouth area. We are picking up and eating in–picking up at the superb Bark BBQ for an array of meats and sides and eating at Proof 22 for an enormous plate of nachos and more.
Bark BBQ
It’s hard not to overeat at Bark. I learned after a few times to actually split a meal rather than try it all on my lonesome. Splitting the brisket and pulled pork is typically what my wife and I choose. We often try options for sides, including potatoes, mac & cheese, or collard greens. An order of burnt ends is also a must! Even splitting it often fills us for dinner and following lunch.
Bark is located in North Plymouth on Court Street in a small strip mall. I usually prefer to take out but make sure to fill your cups with sauces. The meat is tender and simply delish!
Proof 22
For a rip-roaring country-fied dining experience serving top-notch BBQ in Plymouth, look no further than Proof 22. From the decor to the dinner menu, you’re worlds away from coastal New England. Here I often choose the brisket grilled cheese. Very tender and tasty. Try the pulled pork nachos which are big enough to feed a family. They also serve a top-shelf whiskey selection to go along with the BBQ options. Try an Angel’s Envy neat or a flight of four.
Bonus Round!
One of my favorite New England BBQ joints is Bear’s BBQ in Hartford, Connecticut. With a few locations now, they are also located inside Dunkin’ Park, home of the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats. They serve BBQ done right. So if you find yourself jonesin’ for some baseball action, good BBQ is not far away.
This August Trip for BBQ is making me hungry! With Bark BBQ and Proof 22 in Plymouth, the BBQ connoisseur will leave America’s Hometown satisfied. And if you’re catching the Yard Goats game in Hartford, make sure to stop by the outpost of Bear’s located there.
