Ogie’s Trailer Park in Providence, Rhode Island, is one of those places that you have to see to believe. Part dive bar, part hipster enclave, part retro kitchen, part family-friendly establishment, but all trailer park. With excellent comfort food, a superb beer selection, and even a kids menu, Ogie’s Trailer Park literally has something for the whole family.

I put the 1155 Westminster Street address into my GPS and arrived at a seemingly empty parking lot. Pulling in, I realized I was there, as a partial trailer, patio furniture, and giant retro sign greeted me. Entering Ogie’s gave me a dive that meets a 1950s kitchen vibe.

Time for a beer

The beer menu is extensive, with favorites including selections from Widowmaker and Two Roads but I was over the moon finding The Alchemist’s Heady Topper there. I ordered one of those and my dad had a Candymaker from Widowmaker which is a peanut butter stout. Order the drinks at the bar and the food at Granny Boo’s Kitchen, which looks like the side of a trailer.

Lunchtime at Ogie’s Trailer Park

For a late lunch, all of the adults ordered Granny Boo’s Badass Bacon Burger. My son, at six, very much enjoyed ordering this menu item out loud. He had a good chuckle. The burger was great, and each of us ordered a side of tater tots. These are a house specialty. They are crispy and potato-ey. Ogie’s also has a poutine variation of the tots, but it wasn’t available during lunchtime. The kids had chicken fingers and a hot dog.

After placing the order, you get a license plate to put on the table. This was a fact that Danny loved since he is really into license plates. Our table was given Hawaii. The order is called over the loudspeaker by state.

Eating Outside.

It was a gorgeous sunny November day, so we ate outside. Our party took up a picnic table. There are all kinds of seating options at Ogie’s Trailer Park, including sitting around a fire pit in the evening or lounging on traditional patio furniture. There are parts of trailers on the walls and kitschy touches such as plants grown out of a sink. There’s also a large painted “Providence is Divine” sign on the outside wall.

Everyone in our group, from ages two to 74 enjoyed their time at Ogie’s Trailer Park. We’ll definitely be back.
