Idletyme Brewing Company: My Favorite Meal

We’re back in Stowe, Vermont, for the latest entry in the “my favorite meal” series. After a first stop at the von Trapp Bierhall, our next meal destination is Idletyme Brewing Company. I’ve already proclaimed it as one of the state’s best breweries and among my top burgers but now I’m here to tell you about my favorite meal. (Yes, the burger is included.)

Rainbow over Idletyme Brewing Company

Idletyme Brewing is a brewpub located on Mountain Road (Route 108) in Stowe. The building housed the Shed Restaurant and Brewpub for years prior to Idletyme’s tenure. Now the Shed beer is brewed by Otter Creek/Long Trail. The interior is tastefully decorated but still comfortable for kids. On a warm night or afternoon, eating in the backyard patio is a treat.

What’s on the menu

This flight’s for you at Idletyme.

For starters, I always try a flight of their beer. Some of their tastiest beers include the double IPA, the grapefruit pale ale, and the golden lager. For an appetizer, I like to split an order of the fried pickles. These babies are full dill spears, encrusted in beer batter to provide the perfect crunch. They come out piping hot, so make sure to let them cool.

Burger and Mac & Cheese

I typically choose the Pub Burger with all the fixings, including bacon and extra sharp Cabot cheddar cheese. My mouth is watering thinking about this burger. Each bite is juicy, meaty, cheesy, and accented with bacon!

The Idletyme burger is a must while you’re in Stowe, Vermont.

As good as the burger is, the mac and cheese is equally amazing. The name of the dish is “creamy mac and cheese,” and that is certainly an appropriate description. With shaved parmesan and Cabot cheddar, this is a very cheesy dish. I like to add thick-cut bacon to it. I often split the burger and the mac and cheese with my wife so we both get to enjoy the entrees.

With its location on the Stowe Rec Path, it’s easy to walk off a few of those calories after dinner.
