Although virtual work is officially in full swing, this period of quarantine has led me to tackle various projects. Similar to my living room road trips (I beat the Legend of Zelda video game, by the way), I recently ventured on an exciting journey I like to call a basement road trip! To all corners of the basement, I traveled. From the laundry area to the storage room, from the workbench to the area that we store the patio furniture in the winter, it was quite the trip.
All Corners of the Basement Road Trips
In all honesty, I’d love to have a renovated room in the basement, a place I could keep my beer fridge, put a small TV, and relax. I guess they call this a “man cave”. But women would be allowed too, as well as kids and pets. I will not be gender or species-specific in naming this room. Truthfully, a new roof is needed and about 1001 other jobs are needed to do prior to this. My “everyone and everything cave” will not bloom to fruition anytime soon.
Another area that I have been wanting to tackle is the workbench. Not that I own any power tools, or even know how to use a hammer, but the workbench is the focal point upon descending to the depths of the basement. From my initial foray into homeownership, our workbench and other areas of the basement were promised to be cleared out by the previous owner but never were. Basically there was a bunch of crap left over from them. Much of it was put on the workbench. Over the years, we added to that with extra packs of lightbulbs, paint cans, and electronics.
Well, thanks to this period of quarantine, I was able to clear off and declutter the workbench! Talk about an exciting basement road trip!
