Hi, I’m Zack and I hope you enjoy reading about some of my favorite places to travel to.
I’m a lifelong adventurer whose travel itinerary was drastically altered with the birth of my first child in 2015. Plane trips and even long car rides became much less frequent. Instead, I learned that superb destinations could be found in my own backyard!
As a New Englander, it’s easy to travel well to varied destinations in short distance to home. The mountains and the city are not far and the ocean, well that can literally be seen from my backyard. When I was young, my parents prided on taking me to destinations throughout the region with natural, cultural or historical significance. I continued this trend as I became older. I was especially interested in places slightly off the beaten path as I was researching sites for my first two books, Connecticut Lore and More Connecticut Lore.
Through this blog, places both on and off the beaten path are featured. Including many with a focus on traveling with children. Some posts detail only one place while others include a travel itinerary. Among these will be the “Beer and Babies in New England” series. These will highlight a family friendly brewery, attraction and walk all within a short distance of one another.
Strap on your seatbelt because this backyard road trip is about to begin!
